Artist of the day: Josh Keys

Josh Keyes born August 17, 1969 in Tacoma, Washington is a contemporary artist who works with painting, drawing, and installation art. He currently works out of Portland, Oregon. His work can be described as “a satirical look at the impact urban sprawl has on the environment and surmises, with the aid of scientific slices and core samples, what could happen if we continue to infiltrate and encroach on our rural surroundings.

It could also be summed up as a hybrid of eco-surrealism and dystopian folktales that express a concern for our time and the Earth’s future.

Weekend Photo course in Tepoztlan Mexico with Sebastian Belaústegui

These are a few of my photos I took for a express photo course on photo documentary taught by Sebastian Belaústegui maker of the book Guardians of Time, The course took place in the magical little town of Tepoztlan only a 1 hour drive from Mexico city it was a very good experience I learned alote meet a group of very different photographers each with there own style,I learned alote about editing and making choices and overall more about photography and the compelling story of Sebastian and how he started his photo carear.
It took place during the weekend carnival where they celebrate a tradition they borrowed from neighboring towns called The Chinelos dance wich is a traditional dance in the state of Morelos but is originally from Tlayacapan in which colourfully dressed dancers dance and wave flags accompanied by set traditional tunes played by a brass band.

Artist of the day: Sebastian Krueger

Sebastian Krüger is a German artist born in Hamelin in 1963
His primary medium is acrylic paint, and his paintings are hyper-realistic in detail, yet also extremely grotesque in their distortion.
His Faces are a kindly meant but thoroughly subversive tribute to the world of beautiful appearances and to the rock and pop culture of the sixties, with which the painter has cultivated an almost ritualistic relationship. According to his own comment on his work ( “Everything is in transition, that’s all”) he has devoted himself for some years, with the same artistic passion as before, to the reworking of the private world of his childhood.
